Robots aren't as good in removing debris like screws made of metal or pasta pieces. They are however excellent at brushing away pet hair, dust, and food particles. The best models feature intelligent navigation and object avoidance features that help them maneuver around toys, cords and other household obstacles.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a fantastic robot vacuum with many smart features that make it easier to maintain. Its automatic bin emptying is one of the most efficient features we've seen in an iRobot, and it works well with hard floors as well as carpets. It's also simple to set up and operate with the app that guides you step-by-step through the process. Another impressive feature is the ability to go back to the spot where it left off in our tests--it did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we have tested, has a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris into an external dirt container on its charging base when it is full. The i3+ EVO can be kept from overfilling by a self-emptying bin. However, it must still be emptied manually at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L which will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
Like the i7, this model uses state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores a single map while the i7 can store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones however, not the i3+ EVO.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of removing debris from the surface in comparison to other robovacs we've reviewed, but it is not the most effective in cleaning corners and edges. It is also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It pushed chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and was stuck to cords and toys while testing.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice, whether you are expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or just getting started. It packs powerful power, a smart navigation system and easy automation into a sleek and stylish design for a reasonable price. It's the most efficient pound-for pound model on sale right now and even beats some of Roborock's more expensive models in many ways.
This robot is great at cleaning floors that are dirty, and its avoidance tech helps it to steer clear of furniture legs or other obstacles. It also performs well on carpets and gets an excellent score in our tests of navigation. The only drawback is that it's louder than other models we test and it doesn't do as well in our owner satisfaction or predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin of 770ml, which means that you won't need to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute running time is also impressive when compared to other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. If the battery is low, it returns automatically to its dock, where it recharges before resuming cleaning where it left off. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
This is among the first robots we've seen to incorporate 3D mapping. This, along with other innovations, helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests of vacuuming and mopping test. You can schedule cleanings and set up no-go zones. You can also see the battery's status. The app is simple to use, however it doesn't support Apple HomeKit. That feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. Apple updated its website's footnote in November of this year to reflect that this feature has been delayed until 2025. Several other robots don't work with HomeKit, but many of them work with Siri Shortcuts.

This model uses an internal dToF LiDAR sensor to create a map of your home, resulting in efficient cleaning routes. The iMop was rated highly for its accuracy and navigation. It also did a great job of avoiding obstacles such as furniture. It can also find its way back to the base station in case it runs out of batteries during an exercise of cleaning.
The spot cleaning mode lets you to clean a certain area of your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a specific route, which is helpful in narrow staircases or hallways. It did a decent job of cleaning carpets in our carpet cleaning evaluation however, it had trouble with longer pile carpets and carpets. It can be set up to lift the mop pad automatically whenever it comes into contact with carpet. This is a fantastic option for those looking to save the time of mopping their carpets.
The iMop features an onboard dust bin and a water tank which it empties and refills at the end of each cleaning session. The onboard dust bin holds up to 2.5 liters of debris.
